Control of propagation of spatially localized polariton wave packets in a Bragg mirror with embedded quantum wells

چکیده
We considered the nonlinear dynamics of Bragg polaritons in a specially designed stratified semiconductor structure with embedded quantum wells, which possesses a convex dispersion. The model for the ensemble of single periodically arranged quantum wells coupled with the Bragg photon fields has been developed. In particular, the generalized GrossPitaevskii equation with the non-parabolic dispersion has been obtained for the Bragg polariton wave function. We revealed a number of dynamical regimes for polariton wave packets resulting from competition of the convex dispersion and the repulsive nonlinearity effects. Among the regimes are spreading, breathing and soliton propagation. When the control parameters including the exciton-photon detuning, the matter-field coupling and the nonlinearity are manipulated, the dynamical regimes switch between themselves.

"Optical spectroscopy of a GaAs/AlGaAs multiple quantum well system near double exciton-polariton and Bragg resonance" Abstract
We studied optical reflection (OR) and contactless electroreflection (CER) from a periodic system of multiple GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells (QWs). The system was designed in such way that the electromagnetic resonance of Bragg reflection occurs at the frequency that coincides or is close to the frequency of the exciton-polariton resonance in the wells. Under these conditions there should be electro...

The results of study of the optical reflection and contactless electroreflection from a periodic system of multiple GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells will be presented. The quantum well width was 15 or 20 nm and the barriers were 104 nm thick. In this system, the electromagnetic resonance of the Bragg reflection occurs at the frequency that coincides or is close to the frequency of the exciton-polarito...
متن کاملTheory of dipolar polaritons in microcavity-embedded coupled quantum wells in electric and magnetic fields
We present a precise calculation of spatially-indirect exciton states in semiconductor coupled quantum wells and polaritons formed from the coupling of an indirect exciton to the optical mode of a microcavity. We include the presence of electric and magnetic fields applied perpendicular to the QW plane. Our model predicts the existence of polaritons with a large dipole moment, known as dipolari...
متن کاملAdjustable Plasmonic Bandgap in One-Dimensional Nanograting Based on Localized and Propagating Surface Plasmons
Compared to the long history of plasmonic gratings, there are only a few studies regarding the bandgap in the propagation of plasmonic surface waves. Considering the previous studies on interpretation of plasmonic bandgap formation, we discuss this phenomenon using the effect of both surface plasmon polariton (SPP) and localized surface plasmon (LSP) for our fabricated one-dimensional metallic-...
متن کاملSelf-Interfering Wave Packets.
We study the propagation of noninteracting polariton wave packets. We show how two qualitatively different concepts of mass that arise from the peculiar polariton dispersion lead to a new type of particlelike object from noninteracting fields-much like self-accelerating beams-shaped by the Rabi coupling out of Gaussian initial states. A divergence and change of sign of the diffusive mass result...
